Let's step back a few years. The year is 1976, Karl is working as a delivery driver for a local beverage company.
After returning from vacation, Karl found that his clients had not been taken care of while he was gone.
Certain he could do better at maintaining a company that cared for its customers needs, he hit the street.
Karl had built a reputation of taking care of his
clients for over 17 years in the beverage business.
The first delivery vehicle was not very attractive.
The family was displaced for a couple of
weeks, but it gave a him a launching platform
to see whether he could make a go of it.
He found he could easily make a go of it. There was a demand for the excellent service that he could bring to his customers.
Karl maintained a small one man company for many years. He served a loyal group of customers until pressure from client referrals required him to expand. He then hired his son, Troy, who had helped out from time to time, his wife Ilene, and others.
Karl and Ilene retired in 2004 and sold their interest in the company to their son/partner of 16 years, Troy.
Some things at Karl's have changed over the years. We no longer deliver from the family car. But Karl's will always remember what the company was founded on "customers". Serving their needs will never change.
